The Social Club Book Chain

I've just been reading Grey Mask by Patricia Wentworth and thought there would probably be a few members of the Social Club who would like to read it. So I propose to start a book chain.

Any member can take part. All you have to do is list the book, with a little review or link so members can read more about the book. Anyone interested in reading the book should PM the poster. The poster then lists the people who want the book (preferably by editing their original post) and sends it to the first in the list.

When they have read it they send it to the second on the list and so on. At the end of the list the person either gets to keep the book, pass it on to a friend or post it back to the original poster, depending on what the original poster has requested.

To make it more interesting each reader must take a photo of them reading the book and post it here.

So to start.

Grey Mask by Patricia Wentworth.

This is the first Miss Silver novel. Charles returns home after a long absence overseas to discover a mysterious criminal gang plotting a murder in his house. Not wanting to go to the police he turns to Miss Silver.

Patricia Wentworth was a best selling author of her day, on a par with Agatha Christie. Her first Miss SIlver novel was published in 1928, her last in 1961.

That sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, I'd probably be the broken link in the chain. It takes me so long to finish a book these days that I have about 4 stacks waiting to be read. But maybe I can be the start of one- I'll have to dig out a couple of summertime pulps to share.

Oh yes- do start one! I think summertime pulps may get more response than fusty Miss Silvers
