I'm going to break a habit and watch 2 new films this year!
Iron Man looks like ridiculously good fun as does the new Indiana Jones film (I'm sure there are some throbbing genitals on a certain other message board).

Go see Iron Man! It was terrific.

Violent, but it all tied in with and moved the story. KILLER special effects, and an excellent cast. We went to see it this afternoon.

And Robert Downey, Jr. was aces. (Great to see a flawed, sexy, powerful lead...over the age of 40; that was the best part.)

I'm really looking forward to Indiana Jones. I love those movies!

Leatherheads is another I want to see. It probably won't be as good as the other two, but I love the premise and the cast.

Ironman, Indiana Jones and Sex and the City. All on my To-See list.

Well, we saw Iron Man and it was indeed a preposterously good romp; even though we were cursed with the long-haired, full-length leather coat wearing, unable to stay quiet, comic geeks 2 seats away. I'm sure they all had erections.

Indiana Jones next.

I'm going to see it on my birthday. We're visiting family in TX (me in TX, yes, I know...the mind boggles) and my mother, my sister & I are going to matinée and then to lunch.

My husband will be going with my BiL and our nephews. *snicker* Uncle Jimmy will be exhausted!

We saw the Indiana Jones film last night. Just as silly as ever but fairly enjoyable. I'm not entirely sure what the stylists thought they were doing with Mutt's hair though. It never looked good on Liberace and it certainly didn't look good on him.

I felt a bit sorry for Ray Winstone. He seemed a bit surplus to requirements. Or was it just me?

I think everyone bar Ford was surplus. If the last two films I've seen featuring John Hurt are anything to go by, he's been reduced to playing jibbering lunatics.

Shia Laboeuf was like a young John Cussack but with even less ability.

I'm not even sure who Winstone's character was supposed to be- treacherous sidekick, but what exactly was his job?

I think they should get all of the baddy stereotypes out of the way in the next one by combining them all. Have a zealous Nazi (communist at weekends) with a severe bob (but he's actually bald, the bob is a wig) with a livid scar down his cheek, a monocle, a pointy handlebar moustache, a combination of German (Anti-American Nazi scum), Russian (Anti-American Red scum) and English (just born deviants) accents, highly polished riding boots, a swordstick, one glass eye, one come-to-bed eye, amazing legs, pointy tits, an unexplained obsession with occult mysticism, a chiselled jaw, a tendancy to take things far too seriously and a love of all Heath Robinson/ Rube Goldberg torture devices.

Good Lord LS! You don't go for half measures do you! lol!

They aren't actually considering another movie are they? Harrison's holding up well, but he is getting a bit long in the tooth for it.

Has anyone seen the (new) movie of Hairspray?

I didn't catch it when it was in the theatres, and I think it would be a good rental.

We saw another new film last night! Shocking.

Hellboy 2 was a relentless cacophony and visual tornado of unreal proportions. It was unashamedly silly, as all comicbook stories should be, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Imagine, if you will, every Todd Schorr freak going wild in Heironymous Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights with a steampunk theme running throughout and you may have a vague idea of the aesthetic.

My only complaint would be that the baddy was a bit rubbish and very Lord of the Rings. He was more of a misguided youth than a morally redundent monster. There's no beating the pure evil of the nemesis in the first Hellboy.

Shall you and your good lady be taking in the new Batman flick?

I doubt it. I'll probably watch it in years to come if it's the only thing on TV.

Why someone with a very slight lisp should be cast as Batman is completely beyond me. Heroes don't have speech impediments. They just don't.

We're going this Saturday to see it. Jack Nicholson was outstanding as the Joker (the man's ability to play characters who, shall we say, think outside the box, makes you go "hummmmm"), but the late Heath Ledger's performance is supposed to knock the stuffing out of anything previous.

I really enjoyed the first Hellboy and look forward to the second one. My husband is a big fan of the comic book/graphic novel, so we see most of the movies that come out now.

I want to see Hellboy. Missed the first one; I should rent that first.

I rented The Painted Veil and Illicit over the weekend.

TPV was very good. Nothing like a cholera epidemic in 1925 China to set a story up! It really was well done, though. And excellent casting, set dressing, costumes, and all.

The second is a pre-Code starring Barbara Stanwyck. As ever, she's fabulous!
