Deja you. I need a new digicam too. The only bit of techno-crap I own that's older is my cell phone. Which I'm NOT replacing. When it goes, it goes. Thats one network I don't give a fig to be on.

Any rec's re the camera? Keep in mind I'm strictly point 'n click material. Any fiddly bits and I start to hyperventilate.

Just buy a proper camera. With film. It's that simple. They're cheap, they work, they're reliable, you get better pictures and you get and actual photograph.

Can one still get them? I mean the Joe Everyman camera and film. Not the pro standard stuff? Seriously I thought they'd been consigned to the past.

Of course! There are still point and shoot film cameras. I bought Miss R one for Christmas. A Fuji Natura.
I've got an old 80s Olympus OM2N , which is a proper SLR, that you usually pick up for under £100 on ebay.

I love film cameras, and have a couple of good 'uns already. I am terrible about getting film developed, however - we have buckets of 35mm waiting years on to be developed.... I am going to start up on it this summer, though (I promise myself).

The benefit of digital for me, is in quick upload for the wife's blog, and for photoshop work, for me.
