This is a wonderful series, set in the 1990s and 1940s...at the same time.

TV repairman gets lost and comes up with a second life...and wife...in the 40s.

We first saw it on PBS (Public Broadcasting Stations), and just bought ourselves the whole series on DVD. It's zone 2, so we have to use an all-zone DVD player (or you can play it on laptop).

Or, you can watch it on Youtube!

I liked this show, too, but I liked the first two seasons (I think that's right), before they changed actresses for his wives. Worth a look for those who don't know the series.

Yes, it was better with Dervla Kirwan who seemed better suited to the other woman role, albeit unwittingly. Her accent was a bit grating though, or maybe it was just that she felt the need to drop an octave to be a cockney that was annoying.

I liked both sets of actresses, actually. My husband really preferred Emma Amos (?) , the second Yvonne.

I think the switch was after Season 3, but couldn't swear to it.

***SPOILERS***

We just watched the Jack the Ripper episode. I think my favorite bit was seeing the Victorian PC Deadman...corrupt and brainy...what happened there?? LOL

David Benson as Noel Coward was wonderful casting. He really does not look like Coward, but he's such a good actor and apt mimic that he does look like Coward as he's playing the role.
