| In another post, I mentioned that I'm even trying to be vintage on the inside of my kitchen cabinets. Does anyone else take things to this level or am I just overly obsessed with this? I happen to have found some useful vintage product packaging, so I just replaced the new with the old. The saltine tin is really much better at keeping those individual cracker sleeves fresh than the modern cardboard package, and it's more fun to look at. The mason jars hold all the loose baking supplies I use regularly, like walnuts and brown sugar, and do keep those things better than the plastic sacks they came in. Some of the other jars are things that I canned myself last summer and are really nice to look at in the cold winter months! Do any of you buy particular brands or products at the store just because the packaging is either unchanged from the 30s/40s/50s or vintage-looking? I must confess to doing that myself- the fruit cans on the top shelf look straight out of the 50s but are brand new- love that! | |

| That's a nice looking cupboard. Ours are crammed in a very unorganised way. I am certainly swayed by packaging, anything that looks vintage will find it's way into my basket. I am also swayed by vintage advertising. If I notice an advert in an old magazine and then see the product with the same packaging I will most likely buy it. I use some tins and jars to store dried fruit, spices and the like. I should decant more as food does last longer. | |

| I admit that we often get things at least partly based on packaging or design... And oftentimes gotten uneeded things ONLY because I liked the vintage design. Given a choice of what we need, retro graghics puts us over. And, like Miss R, our cabinets are an unholy wreck of stuffing, stacking, and balancing. Our cabinets are somewhat small and shallow for our needs... we could really use a good pantry. | |

| Didn't we have a vintage-style packaging thread? Maybe that was on PH.
I shall see if we have one and, if not, start one. | |
