I haven't tried this yet but will;

Instant Hair Nourishment

3 tablespoons of olive oil
2 tablespoons of honey

Double or tripe measures as needed for longer hair. Mix together and apply to hair. Wrap your head in plastic wrap and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse and viola, the result is supposed to be shiny locks.

Oh yeah I used to use it all the time. Using olive oil without the honey works better.

Does it? Just sounds like an inexpensive version of VO5 hot oil. But with honey. Must research what benefit honey has as a topical hair treatment. Could I get the same benefit just having it on toast?

That's exactly what it is, which is probably why it's so difficult to find VO5 treatments anymore.

I'm not sure why the honey is used. I'm sure somewhere along the line someone figured that the natural antibodies or nutrients in the honey would do your hair some good, but all it does is make your hair gummy. With just oil, it's easier to comb it through to the ends and get ever distribution, plus you can see the "dry" spots that never seem to get oily; those are the split ends and damaged spots that should be trimmed off. Anything that gets oily will look great when you wash out the oil.

Well that settles it then. I'll keep the honey on my toast.

I've done the hot olive oil thing for years. It's just cheaper and we've always got the olive oil in the house!

I heat a towel, and then sit under my hooded dryer for awhile.

I've been in poor heath lately, and on all kinds of meds, so naturally, I've noticed a chage in my hair -- it's become increasingly dry/fragile/corse over the past few years (Wah! Ugh!), to the point where it's becoming a tad alarming (ouchy-flaky-bleeding scalp, too). At least it's not falling out by the clump yet...fingers crossed that doesn't happen! Think this might help? I've tried everything it seems, and although some treatments seem to help in the short term, they seem to stop working after a short while, and I'm back at square one.

Also, I've noticed an odd thing -- I've been getting a a lot of very fine strands (my hair is fine anyway, but even more fine than that), very smooth, which are completely clear -- not white -- clear -- or so white, they look clear at least...no pigment at all, it seems, except for the root about a quarter or third of the way down, where they're JET black. (I'm a natural red-head, on the auburn side, not orangy or strawberry blonde...I've always had a mix loads of different shades, ranging from very blonde to gold to almost-brown, but never white or black) I'd get it if the roots were coming in white (getting older!), but the other way around? I've tried to research it, and haven't come up with anything, heath-wise or aging-wise or meds-wise. PS: Never used hair dye, and only VERY rarely any sort of heated gadgets or even hairspray, or any other kind of hair products other than shampoos (gentle varieties), and conditioners....and nothing other than those for many years. then, just a towel and air dry, combed with a wide-toothed comb, and gently brushed when completely dry -- hairdressers have always been amazed by the excellent condition of my hair -- until now, of course. So what's up with the black/white combo? I suppose no one would really notice, but it looks really strange to me, because I think the phenomenon really is glaring, even though there aren't many strands like that. Any explanations?

It sounds to me like something you need to see your doctor about there chick.

I've been seeing drs almost every week (my GP and assorted specialists), as well as having LOADS of blood tests, and every sort of test under the sun...so far, no answers to anything...and I've had appts with everybody/various tests at least once a week for months now.

Where the heck is House when you need him?

I don't think I'd actually want House treating me...He always very nearly kills the patient before he cures them....

Getting back to tricks of the trade, I just bought a set of eyebrow stencils and I can't talk them up enough! I thought I'd look like Joan Crawford, or at least that delusional hag from down the lane who still thinks she's twenty. My husband does such a great impersonation of her, slouching in a chair and waving a cigarette around in the air while rasping, "Hey kid! C'Mere! (drags on cigarette) Did I eva tell ya 'bout the time I F*cked John F Kennedy and Sammy Davis at the same time?"

So getting back to the point, The eyebrow stencils worked SO WELL I don't want to go out without them anymore! I'll have to buy more! Heck I'll have to buy stock in the company. My eyebrows came out so perfectly done, and I thought they'd come out all wonky or I'd have to trim some off or whatever. Nope! Perfection every time!

H'mm. I've never tried them (thought what you did).

Sounds like they'd be fun for a trial, at least for 40s through 60s looks.
