| The Road to Quoz by William Least-Heat Moon (2008).
Yes, he's kind of wordy but I enjoy his travel tales. | |

| I'm reading Flapper by Joshua Zeitz, one of my birthday presents. It's a really good read, looking at flappers and the making of modern America. So far he has focused on the literary flappers, Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald and Lois Long but it looks like fashion, film and other celebrities are to come. | |

| Has anyone here read Pepy's Diaries? (Samuel Pepys [peeps]). He's from the time of Charles II (England). I picked up a set when I worked in an antiquarian book store. Problem is, the Victorians got hold of it and mangled it a la the Lambs, and lots of the good bits are cut out! The unabridged runs into double digit volumes (I have only nine books to encompass the "whole" thing). It's been a while since I've read them, and I never did get to the end of it... Good winter reading (as observed by Helene Hanff). Now that I even have a fireplace it seems that I should pick them up again! | |

| I'm reading a few blues harp instructional books. One thing I'll say for the information age; it's made learning easier. Instructional books used to come with tapes but CDs are a vast improvement, if only for the ability to pick and choose chapters. Anyway, this is my last attempt to learn a musical instrument before I admit that it aint never gonna happen. | |
