The Swingin' Years is on from 6 to 9 am (Pacific) Saturdays and Sundays, so no matter where you are I'm sure you can hear it. This is the best broadcast of swing and big band music there is, since he uses all his own collection of thousands of 78s, and they sound SHARP. He also counts down ...

Let'sface it kids, today's bands can't hold a candle to the classic swing arrangements of the forties because, I think, they couldn't afford 'em today. With that in mind, who's your favorite big band? Don't like 'em....shout it out and let the fun begin.

I've just discovered what looks like a delightful radio station - Fitzrovia Radio.

Classic mystery, science fiction and drama radio plays of the 40's and 50's

performed and recorded with style in front of a live studio audience, with live sound effects,

then broadcast via The World Wide Web.

The next recording is on the 2 June and I am pretty certain I will be in attendance with Mr LS (although he doesn't know it yet).

It sounds perfect and the small bar they record in looks ...

For all you hipsters out there, tune in, turn on, wig out to the sophist-o-phonic sounds of Luxuria Music.com.

Here's the blurb from the site:

LuxuriaMusic is an Internet Radio station that broadcasts out to the world

from a small studio in Hollywood, Calif. While almost eight years old, the station’s

programming concepts are both fresh and revolutionary, especially when compared

Very good! http://www.live365.com/index.live

Check out Radio Dismuke, for example, or any of the stations that specialize in OTR.

Right now I'm listening to Absinthe Radio.

You can listen for free, but joining means you have to connect only once, and access to many more stations. It wasn't dirt cheap, but well worth the price.

Gotta be Johnny Mercer. Say what you want about Cahn and Van Heusen and Arlen, but to me, it's gotta be Mercer. Check out this lyric:

Day in - day out

That same old voodoo follows me about

That same old pounding in my heart, whenever I think of you

And baby I think of you

Day in and day out

Day out - day in

I needn't tell you how my days begin

When I awake I get up with a tingle

One possibility in view

That possibility of maybe seeing you
