What's everyone working on? Or recently (or not-so-recently) finished? What's up next?

A few things I recently finished up:

1964 pullover by Pauline Denham (needs to be properly blocked, obviously -- it's looking a tad rumpled at the moment)...the collar opens in the back.

1936 diagonally ribbed scarf by Minerva (with monogramme)...um...yeah...had a wee bit of trouble removing all of the stray kitty fur.... I also made another, but altered the pattern a bit to be ...

I am no seamstress! Just the same, I wanted custom curtains in my "new" kitchen, and making them myself was the only way.

I found great vintage repro fabric online and now I have curtains on my cabinets.

It took all day, as I still haven't messed around with my "new" sewing machine. I have not used a sewing machine since I was about 12 years old (really).

But thanks to a good iron and my needle and thread I'm done.

I still need curtains for the windows. ...

I have a project in mind that calls for Bernat Nylo Germantown. I haven't had a luck finding it on eBay. The pattern calls for size 7 needles, so my guess would be a worsted. My confusion comes from the fact that on the same page, there is another pattern using the same yarn that calls for size 10 needles ad the next page uses the same yarn with size 4 needles. Since I'm brand new to knitting, should I just take the book into my LYS and have the owner tell me what to get? (if it helps with ...

Does anyone else sew with an old sewing machine? If so, what models?

My favourite machine is my 1958 Singer 99k. I sew corsets and she'll get through the layers without breaking a sweat. She also has attachments that work, unlike the feet for my modern machine.

I've also got a Singer 15 (20s with later adaptions) and my mums 60s Jones. I've had a few others that i've cleaned up and passed on. Including a lovely little handcrank 28k from 1901 with a coffin top case. It's lovely seeing them ...

At the moment I have a large table where my sewing machine sits. I'd like to get another table for my overlocker (serger) as at the moment it stays on the floor until I need to use it, which is inconvinent and takes up time moving it.

I have all my fabric and patterns in large plastic tubs which are stacked up by the wall. I find it very messy and not easily accessable (particularly as I have a large mending pile that sits on top of the plastic ...

Gauge swatches are killing me! It's not a vintage pattern, but it's a simple, timeless cardi. I'm using the yarn that the pattern calls for and having trouble getting my gauge right. The pattern calls for size 8 needles. On size 8 needles, my swatch is 1/2in too small. On size 9 needles, my swatch is almost 1in too big. What do you recommend? Does the needle make a difference (ie, bamboo vs metal)? Here is the pattern http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring03/PATTsitcomchic.html

I finally finished www.vintagefashionlibrary.com's 1940's trousers. This pattern took alot of tweaking to make work. In the end, I took out 2 inches from the crotch depth and would take out another 1/2in on the next pair. While marked as a size 28waist (I have a 31 waist), these pants barely fit me and when I lose another few pounds, they will be falling off. My guess is they would fit great on a 32 waist, but make a muslin, as always. It could just be my figure. I decided to do a back zip, instead ...
