Now that I at last have a job and it's close to my house, I've been thinking about buying scooter to commute as opposed to driving my car. Anyone commute by scooter?

No, but if I could I'd definitely get a Vespa! Someday when I don't have to lug the tots around I might get one to run errands. They're so cute and get something like 75 mpg.

I would love a Vespa but I'm leaning toward a Honda Metropolitan for cost.

I have a red and white 1981 Honda passport (virtually interchangeable with the old Honda Cub, but a c70), and my wife has a red and white Honda Metro. Both are great - and both are great scooters - not mopeds as I remind people often. My wife saw some great mopeds that she wants while in France, Germany and Switzerwitzerwitzerland, however.

Vespas are the Holy Grail, it's true, but you might should check out Genuine Scooters. Mostly Vespa oriented, but they also have the "American Vespas", the Buddy and the Stella. People are doing some interesting things with the "battle scooters", the Honda Ruckus, too (that first scoot above might actually be a Ruckus).

I wholeheartedly recommend scooters - you can find one to fit any need, the prices are right, and the fuel economy is FAN-tastic... a 1 gal. tank of gas a month, with plenty of everyday use. Pays for itself

There's a scooter in my front room which hasn't been on the road since 2002. Ah well, spose it's handy to put the post on, like a hall table with wheels....

Mine hasn't been started for around 4 years. It's a Lambretta GP225 (with a TS1 kit) and resides under an arch in my block of flats. I'm too old for 2 wheels.
