Hmm, The Squirrel Nut Zippers are coming through town in a week. Should I go see 'em?

Yes - even though they are without Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher, two important original members. I would still - absolutely - go. Most of the old gang is back and that includes Jimbo and Katharine, whose voice is absolutely necessary. I saw them on the Perrenial Favorites tour in Austin at the Backdoor (R.I.P.). Great time. Saw Big Bad Voodoo Daddy the same weekend. Ah, the Old Days... Anyway: Go See Them. I would.

On a similar note, we're off to to see the Cherry Poppin' Daddies in two weeks. Their discography is very hit and miss so let's hope they play the best stuff. Oh God, I just listened to White Hot Odyssey on the CPD's website. I feel sick.

None of 'em come near here...well, Boston sometimes, but it's seldom in a place where you can dance, which is annoying. Never thought I'd miss Michigan so much. There's always lots of music there! _________________ "To say that New York came up to its advance billing would be the baldest of understatements. I'm hip. Yup, the CPDs have some GREAT songs... and some not-so-great... I expect you'll get a mix. Are they just playing the swing stuff, or also their ska as well?

Who knows? I can tolerate a little bit of their peculiar brand of ska but I'm hoping they concentrate on the neo/punk-swing.

Alas, I missed seeing SNZ because my volunteer gig switched evenings, but I heard from others that it was a swingin' show.
